Remembering Little Toyko and initial thoughts

Little Tokyo was an area of Los Angeles that was devastated by racism, war, and industry. This section, known to many Japanese Americans, was very central to these peoples. When many Japanese Americans were forcibly moved from their homes and the eventual erosion of the community came about, it brought about emptiness for these people. The destruction of communities happens throughout many areas, as examined in many other pieces but as preservationists, historians, and artists, we must help to remember these once great communities.
The idea of this class is great and vast; it looks to remember a section of Baltimore that has been forgotten. While it cannot solve any massive problems, it can help to bring people out and to the community to celebrate the community and its people. There are many ideas floating around about the purpose of this class. People look to do different things through different ways but we all must remember that there is a purpose to remember this community and that should always be kept close to the ideals of this project.
