Baltimore '68

Both of these articles look to explain the Baltimore riots in a different way. The first article wanted to make it public history, something that everyone could understand. Both of these events, though, look to change the way that the something is interpreted because they wish to remember these events. The first article took oral histories, community narratives, and many perspectives to come up with one coherent story that looked the whole event.
The second article was about teaching something that has not been taught before. Here students had to come up with the history of this project, taking the time to understand the issues that the professor wanted them to understand and then to take a comprehensive look at what happened. There were little secondary sources on the riots and many students were lost in this process of making history and doing that to the best of your ability. Both of these articles take a look at something that this class is trying to do but in a different way. This class is more focused on helping the people of the area while these projects were about helping the people of a different time to be heard. That is something that must be taken into account, but something that must not be forgotten.
